Bajrangi Bhaijaan: Salman’s Eid treat for fans
Salman Khan and Eid have become synonymous. Salman's releases are scheduled to release around Eid as the auspicious festival is considered to be lucky for Salman. An Eid release featuring Sallu bhai is the stuff that Bollywood dreams are made of. The actor has amped up Eid celebrations with his blockbuster releases and ensures that his fans aren't disappointed by coming up with a film every year on Eid. The string of Eid releases started with Wanted, followed by Bodyguard, Dabangg, Ek Tha Tiger, Kick and now, Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Every film has been a blockbuster and catapulted Salman in the big league. The upcoming release, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is the most-awaited movie of the year. While the film's story seems intriguing enough, the fact that Salman will draw in the crowds cannot be discounted.
Salman is all set for the release of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. However,
this time around, the film will release a day before Eid, on July 17,
2015. Talking about releasing his films on Eid, Salman Khan reasons,
"During the festive season, families get time to watch films together. A
lot of my films have released on Eid and I am very happy that Bajrangi Bhaijaan
will again be releasing on Eid this year." Besides Salman, Harshaali
Malhotra, who plays the six- year- old , mute Pakistani kid who loses
her way at the Indo-Pak border, is also a major draw of Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Harshaali’s absence is a marketing strategy to keep the curiosity
around her character alive. Apart from this, the songs of the film are
also garnering much attention.
Eid has been one of those holidays that the trade is always excited
about. During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims abstain from all forms
of entertainment. Due to this the rate of releases at the box-office
trickles down. No big ticket releases attempt to release during this
time. As a result, there is a lull at the box-office. Eid means
celebrations and the industry wants to cash in on that. And when they
get a Salman film releasing during that time, it is a bonus! Since the
year, 2009, Salman has managed to pull in the crowds during Eid. Amar
Butala, co-producer and COO of Salman Khan Films, says, “This time we
are expecting to surpass the records set earlier with Kick.”
Even the director of the film is excited about releasing it on Eid. Kabir Khan, the director of Bajrangi Bhaijaan says, “Three years ago, I witnessed from close quarters, the hysteria that surrounds a Salman release on Eid. The Ek Tha Tiger
release hysteria was a phenomenon that had to be seen to be believed.
Over the past decade, watching a Salman film has almost become an
integral part of Eid celebrations. And this year as we are approaching
Eid, I can already feel that familiar sense of public euphoria building
up. Can't wait for EID to bring on Bajrangi Bhaijaan."
